Dan Bassill will be 70 on December 19th.

Celebrate Dan's 70th Birthday with a gift that helps continue work started in the 1970s.

Dan Bassill became a volunteer tutor in 1973 when he joined Montgomery Ward Headquarters in Chicago as a retail advertising copywriter. In 1975 he became leader of the program at Wards.

In 1990 he left Wards and converted the original program into the Cabrini Green Tutoring Program, Inc. (now Tutoring Chicago)  In 1992 he and seven volunteers formed Cabrini Connections (now Chicago Tutoring Connection), to help 7th graders from the original program continue mentoring through high school.

At the same time, he created the Tutor/Mentor Connection to help programs like Cabrini Connections reach k-12 youth in all high poverty neighborhoods in Chicago.

In July 2011 Dan created the Tutor/Mentor Institute, LLC to continue this vision in a new structure. A birthday gift is NOT tax-deductable, but does recognize Dan's vision, long-term service, and gives you a share of Dan's vision.
